Well, this weekend’s 1/4 inch of rain is better than nothing! And we’re expecting more later this week (fingers crossed!). With the rain things have cooled off just a bit, though the recent additions to the children’s garden (compliments of Pat and Gene Salvi) are still looking a bit weary. But I do believe they’ll pull through.
As far as this week’s produce, the lettuce planted after our deer adventure (remember when they devoured our greens a few weeks ago?) was slowed by last week’s heat (and the drought of course), but the tomatoes are ripening nicely. Along with several eggplants. So this week will be tomatoes, eggplant, and more summer squash, cucumbers, onions, herbs and potatoes. For those of you who are getting more potatoes than you can eat, store extras (unwashed) in a well ventilated, cool, dry place – 40 degrees is optimum.
