Bakewell Farm is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization operates as an education center and a working demonstration and agritourism destination. Imagine a “field-to-loaf” learning experience, accessible to the public, and working as a “bread-centric” teaching facility that grows and mills the ingredients necessary for baking nutritious and delicious breads.

Certified Naturally Grown (CNG) offers peer-review certification to farmers and beekeepers in the US and Canada who are producing food for their local communities by working in harmony with nature, without relying on synthetic chemicals or GMOs. As both a CNG farmer & board member, here’s what I especially love about CNG: 1) it is only for the direct market farmer, 2) the peer review certification process relies on transparency and direct relationships between farmers which helps to establish local networks of like-minded farmers, fosters collaboration & provides an opportunity for knowledge sharing. And, 3) decisions about many policy decisions are member driven. Pretty awesome.

  1. So sorry – I’ll be out of town  This sounds like it’s going to be a blast!  I’ll be on my Bhutan,  Tibet, Nepal trip.  Look forward to having you to lunch at the new house and sharing pics.

Current house ‘sold’ in first two weeks and then the buyer backed out.  Something to do with her mortgage company.  So we’re back on the market with visions of a happy buyer closing on it (by October would be ideal).   Some good news of sorts – we found a reputable company to waterproof the small basement.  The contractor comes tom’w to give us an estimate.  Once that is done, we can crumple our short list of must do items and toss it in the trashcan.  We’ve been working on that list for almost two years now, so that will be cause for celebration : )

Hey, let me know if you’re coming past my house at any point.  I’d love to have you for tea.  Little notice required.  We are living in a state of crazy cleanliness.  If I’m at the studio, I can pop home.

    Big hug to you!
